The Opposition Thinking Technique 💭

Emotions derive from feelings — if we can correctly manage our feelings, we can avoid the emotions that follow, or learn control them better.

The first step to this technique is to become aware.

  • Become aware of the emotions you are feeling.
  • Take a minute, take a deep breath and just figure out what exactly you feel. Find out what emotion resonates with your current state.
  • Do you feel stressed, anxious, worried? Figure it out.

The second step in this technique is to shift your thoughts to the complete opposite of your current state.
