A Cure For The Self
Focusing on the Daily Stoic Meditation for July 29 — A Cure For The Self, as outlined by Ryan Holiday in the bestseller 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance and the Art Of Living.
“The person who has practiced philosophy as a cure for the self becomes great of soul, filled with confidence, invincible — and greater as you draw near.”
— Seneca, Moral Letters, 111.2
Everyone has their flaws.
Everyone, no matter who you are or what you do, has their flaws.
Everyone has those negative characteristics that they wish they could rid themselves of;
- Selfishness
- Ego
- Jealousy
- Posessiveness
- Over-competetiveness
Whatever the negative trait is, we all have one (and some have multiple).
More often than not, if we’re on the path to self improvement, we go out to find ways to cure these negative characteristics; we want to heal from them so that we can be the best version of ourselves.
Of all the avenues of help and cure that exist, philosophy is by far the most long-lasting and enduring.
