Closing open loops â inspired by Stephen Timoneyâs tweet.
One of the most important skills you need to succeed in life is the ability to consistently and quickly close open loops.
Do you suffer from open loops?
Does your brain constantly think about the projects and tasks you started months ago that you didnât complete?
Do you find yourself constantly thinking about your to-do list and how youâre going to tackle every task, feeling a grave sense of overwhelm?
Do you find that you can never achieve a state of high focus as thereâs always things pulling at your attention?
You likely suffer from open loops.
What is an open loop?
An open loop is anything that pulls at your attention, preventing you from achieving a flow state of high focus and concentration.
An open loop are those things that bug you and nag at you for attention; unpaid bills, unclean workspaces and unread emails. These types of things are usually pretty unimportant, and so they donât feature on your todo list.
Theyâre the things that you started but never completed, and so your subconscious keeps thinking about it â your brain always focuses on the things you havenât finished.
