3 Little Wonder Bites

📖 Current Read; 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living — Ryan Holiday

Do Not Be Deceived By Fortune

The Daily Stoic Meditation for September 8 outlines that fortune cannot deceive you.

Do not let yourself be deceived by fortune.

Stay stable in your soul.

“No one is crushed by Fortune, unless they are first deceived by her . . . those who aren’t pompous in good times, don’t have their bubbles burst with change. Against either circumstance, the stable person keeps their rational soul invincible, for it’s precisely in the good times they prove their strength against adversity.”

— SENECA, ON CONSOLATION TO HELVIA, 5.4b, 5b–6

Do Not Be Deceived By Fortune

Do not be deceived by fortune.

Do not base everything off of riches and luxuries.

Do not let fortune negatively take over and change your life.

Stay Stable

The stable person keeps their rational soul invincible.

The stable person is someone who;

  • Is not crushed by fortune
  • Is strong willed
  • Is determined and disciplined
  • Is flexible in the correct ways

The person who is stable does not let themselves be guided by luck, riches and fortune.

You too can be this stable person.

Idea of the Week. 💭

Freedom Of Choice

What?

Freedom of choice is the ability to make your own decisions, based solely on what you desire.

You have this freedom of choice, always.

It’s Superior

Freedom of choice is superior.

People can lock you up.

People can imprison you.

People can bind up your leg.

People can rob you of everything.

However, nothing has the power to break your freedom of choice.

You will always have that freedom, no matter what.

That freedom is yours, nobody can take it from you.

Quote of the Week. 🗣

Marsilio Ficino on living in the present.

“Never worry about anything. Live in the present. Live now. Be happy.”

Of course, it is not always as easy as the Italian philosopher makes it out to be.

There will be times where you do worry or struggle.

There will be times where you think a lot about the future or ruminate on the past.

However, you cannot let this consume you.

You must work on being present at all times!

To end, here’s a question from me! ⚡️

How, and where, do you envision yourself in one year?

Thanks for reading!

Until next week,

Sam. 😆
